The trial against Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg in London has been dismissed. The Public Prosecution Service accused the 21-year-old and four co-suspects of disrupting public order.
They were temporarily arrested in October 2023 during a demonstration against a meeting of energy managers in the British capital. Thunberg and the other demonstrators – each two members of the organizations Greenpeace and Fossil Free London – are said to have refused access to the conference hotel.
According to the judge, the police’s demands are too unclear
The charges have now been dismissed by the judge. On the second day of the trial, he said the conditions police imposed on protesters were “so unclear as to be unlawful.”
Failure to comply with the guidelines was therefore not a punishable offense, the judge said, the British news agency PA reported from the courtroom.
