“Sustainable solution” – Germany: minimum wage should gradually climb

Date:

The statutory minimum wage in Germany of currently 12.82 euros is expected to rise in two steps by January 1, 2027 to 14.60 euros per hour. This is proposing the minimum wage committee of trade unions and employers in a unanimous decision,

Initially, the lower wage limit should rise to 13.90 euros at the beginning of 2026. The chairman of the committee, Christiane Schönefeld, spoke about a sustainable solution.

The committee remained under the goal mark that the SPD had specified in particular. The Social -Democrats had stated that the minimum wage would rise to 15 euros in 2026. This brand is not even achieved in 2027. The minimal lighter increase must be implemented by the German Minister of Labor Bärbel Bas (SPD) by law. The German federal government cannot change the proposed resolution. There is no legal minimum wage in Austria.
