Anger flared up in a “Krone” reader after a visit to Bank99 (Post). The costs incurred were higher than the amount that had to be deposited.
If you want to deposit a proof of payment at a bank, you often have to take administration costs into account. In some cases, however, this can be so high that it even exceeds the amount to be deposited. This is what happened at a Post and Bank99 branch in Mattersburg. Monika Neugebauer’s daughter had defaulted on payment due to a bank error and had therefore received a reminder.
Since it was not possible for her at the time and her mother was on vacation, she asked a friend to pay the bill as soon as possible. The day after receiving the reminder, he did exactly this at Bank99 in Mattersburg and had to charge a substantial administration fee for this: twelve euros was owed for the deposit of ten euros.
“A joke”
Even if the knowledge should have gone to another bank, Neugebauer has absolutely no understanding for such high costs. “If it was three euros, I would understand that, but twelve euros is not okay. It’s a joke, especially in times like these, when everyone has to tighten their belts,” she says.
Without an account want‘tax
When asked, Bank99 states that the fee applies to all customers who do not have an account with them, regardless of the deposit amount: “This offsets the processing effort behind each transaction.”
