Putting the return money in her wallet as she left a pharmacy, a woman suddenly snatched it from the hand of a 67-year-old retiree.
A bulging wallet was probably too tempting for a 36-year-old woman from Klagenfurt. “When the 67-year-old pensioner from Klagenfurt submitted the return money, the woman violently snatched the wallet containing more than 1,000 euros from her hand and fled,” the police reported. “But the pensioner immediately gave chase and informed other passers-by.”
Four passersby helped
Together with four passers-by, the 67-year-old was eventually able to catch the thief and hold him back until the alert police patrol arrived. “The suspect stated that everything was a knee-jerk reaction,” police said. “She also claimed she lost money during her escape.” But during a cursory search, officers found a bundle worth hundreds of dollars on her body.
“The woman then voluntarily handed over another 100 euro note that she had hidden in her waistband,” police said. “She was taken to Klagenfurt prison. The seized money has been returned to the pensioner.”
