This fire on the Innkreis highway was impossible without heavy respiratory protection! A truck trailer that caught fire was loaded with a colorful mix of chemicals and flammable materials.
Shortly before 4 a.m. on Saturday night near Kematen am Innbach, a tire on the truck carrying hazardous substances probably burst or there was brake damage. In any case, such heat developed during the journey that a fire broke out.
The flames quickly spread to the trailer itself. The problem was the cargo: a mixture of jerry cans and boxes, including declared hazardous substances, corrosive and also highly flammable.
Firefighters responded with heavy breathing apparatus due to the thick smoke but also possibly toxic fumes. The tire was already ablaze, the flames had already entered the trailer, but fortunately the cargo was not yet burning.
After the fire was extinguished, the cargo was unloaded and picked up by another truck. Fortunately, no one was injured and the operation was over after almost three hours.
