Creative chef – David South: “I want to do something with soul”

Date:

From the English Midlands via Nice to Hohenems: David South traveled far to find his happiness in Vorarlberg. Robert Schneider recently visited him in his restaurant as part of his series ‘Foreign at Home?’

The area around the Jewish Museum in Hohenems is gradually developing into a culinary hotspot. Young restaurateurs with innovative concepts are establishing themselves here, such as: B. 42-year-old David South from England, who moved to Vorarlberg in 2018, started a family and opened the vegetarian-vegan restaurant “Spuds” on Harrachgasse, whose menu is entirely is all about the classic baked potato. In English “Spuds” means approximately the same as the Vorarlberg “Grumpara”, which is why the name “Die Grumparei” is also under the logo of David’s restaurant.
