Last winter it was December 27, this year it is December 17: In the Hochimst ski area, a sliding snow avalanche broke out on a closed slope on almost the same slope. The incident was confined to the closed area and no one was injured.
Sunday’s avalanche occurred in the early afternoon. A mixture of artificial and natural snow slid down a steep, closed piste area. It was a classic sliding snow avalanche – a type of avalanche that currently poses significant danger. According to information from the police, the snow masses did not reach open slopes.
Nevertheless, a search for possible buried victims took place, which ended negatively. Helicopters were also deployed.
