A 60-year-old from St. Marin im Mühlkreis was driving his car on the B127, Rohrbacher Straße from Ottensheim towards Walding on Sunday around 1:10 p.m. Suddenly his eyes closed and due to microsleep he ended up on the left side of the road. An oncoming 80-year-old driver from Traun had no chance of preventing the accident.
Thrown over an embankment
After the collision, the pensioner’s vehicle was thrown over the right-hand road slope and came to a stop on the company premises. The 60-year-old’s car came to a stop on the dike.
Rescue flight to hospital
The 60-year-old was taken to Kepler University Hospital with injuries of an unknown nature. His 72-year-old passenger was flown by rescue helicopter to Kepler University Hospital with serious injuries. The 80-year-old was also seriously injured and was taken to UKH Linz by an emergency doctor; Her 29-year-old passenger was also taken to UKH Linz.
