A German (33) had several guardian angels in the Tyrolean Sellraintal on Monday. During a descent, the man let go of a snow slab. Although the winter sports enthusiast was washed over a rock step by the avalanche, he was unharmed.
The incident happened around 2:40 p.m. “While descending the Kälberkar, the 33-year-old caused a dry snow patch at an altitude of 2,650 meters in steep terrain,” the director said.
The width of the crack was probably between 30 and 50 meters. The German activated his avalanche airbag and was dragged about 150 meters.
Finally he came to rest on the surface, buried. “Although the 33-year-old was washed over a rock step, he was not injured,” investigators continued.
The man got a shock
However, the German received a shock. His companions immediately called 911. The winter sports enthusiast was rescued by the crew of the emergency medical helicopter “Martin 2” and flown into the valley.
