Courageously – because she is almost alone in the area – resident Regina Drazdil tries to stop the construction of a new fire station and community center in her small residential hamlet, a district with 80 inhabitants in the municipality of Hohenwarth-Mühlbach am Manhartsberg in the Hollabrunn district .
And the woman’s arguments cannot simply be dismissed. “There will be a fire station and a community center on our meadow, even though they both already exist. The latter is only used during elections. And the Florianis could only register one deployment this year because there was no equipment other than a personnel vehicle,” said the dedicated conservationist.
Decisions appear to have been made
But the decisions on seal hunting already appear to be set in stone. Because the municipality has unanimously redesigned the said piece of greenery as building land in the context of the Spatial Planning Act and the building complex in question is going to be built. As early as next year, excavators and other heavy equipment could arrive and destroy the village idyll that has existed for centuries.
Drazdil in a plea to the decision makers in the official chambers, but also in the offices of the state government: “For me, the question is whether such valuable land should really be closed at this time and despite global warming and other consequences of climate change . This will also change the typical cityscape of the Weinviertel. Some old fruit trees will probably also fall victim to the project in the spring.” Mayor Martin Gudenus emphasized to the “Krone” that other local residents of Bösendürnbach support this investment in their cadastral register because something is finally happening. “That’s why they are in favor of revitalizing the city center. The fire station is outdated and already too small for the Florianis.”
