A six-year-old child died shortly after noon on Tuesday at the scene of the accident in neighboring Sargans (Switzerland). The boy was riding his kickboard on the sidewalk when he was overlooked and hit by a truck driver.
The 56-year-old man drove his truck after the roundabout on St. Gallerstrasse towards Trübbach. At the same time, the little boy rode his kickboard along the sidewalk in the same direction. Immediately after the roundabout, the truck driver wanted to turn right onto Rheinstrasse and had to cross the sidewalk to do so.
For unknown reasons, he overlooked the child, who was seriously injured in the collision with the truck. Although emergency services arrived immediately, all help for the boy came too late. The six-year-old child died at the scene of the accident.
In addition to several patrols from the St. Gallen cantonal police, a rescue team, the fire brigade, a public prosecutor and psychological first aid and the local fire brigade were also present.
