A motorist (52) was trapped in his vehicle in an accident in the Völkermarkt district of Carinthia on Tuesday evening. The rescue was not exactly easy.
Shortly before 7 p.m. on Tuesday, a man from the Völkermarkt district was driving his car on Diexer Landesstraße when he suddenly lost control of his vehicle in the Oschenitzen region and crashed into the concrete base of a fence. The car was seriously deformed and the 52-year-old was trapped in the wreckage.
The vehicle had to be cut into pieces
“When we arrived at the scene of the accident, the emergency doctor informed us that we had to take the injured person out through the roof to ensure a careful rescue,” says Armin Eberle, operations manager of the Völkermarkt volunteer fire brigade . Using hydraulic equipment, the roof of the vehicle was cut and removed, and the steering wheel was loosened using rescue shears.
The 52-year-old was taken to UKH Klagenfurt with serious injuries. According to police, it is currently unclear why the accident occurred.
