1.2 million euros in damage: Polish thieves are said to have stolen 15 luxury cars in Lower Austria. A member now had to answer to the regional court in St. Pölten. The suspect extends his own pre-trial detention with a torrent of applications – trial suspended!
“I’ve never experienced anything like this.” The start of the trial of a member of the Polish car mafia shook his head, and not only among the judges. Because on Tuesday at the start of the hearing, the accused ushered in requests for evidence. The 30-year-old is one of five suspects to answer for theft as part of a criminal organization.
Withdrawn confession at trial
As reported, the gang is said to have stolen 15 luxury cars in this country. The defense argued that the 30-year-old was only a fringe figure in the gang structure as a “watchdog”. His role in court is all the more important: “It’s all lies, I’ve been cheated,” he retracts his confession.
What follows are – in addition to a complaint – requests to call all accomplices as witnesses and for a psychological report because he is “unwell”. Result: trial suspended, 30-year-old remains in custody. Meanwhile, his accomplices have fled abroad.
