An AUA plane bound for Vienna had to suddenly turn around after taking off from Frankfurt on Thursday. The airline speaks of an “unusual odor event”. Passengers also noticed smoke.
The Airbus took off from Frankfurt am Main towards Vienna in the early afternoon, but had to land back in the German banking metropolis due to possible smoke on board, reports the magazine “Austrian Wings”, citing passengers.
According to the magazine, firefighters came on board as the passengers were leaving the Airbus in Frankfurt and inspected the plane. Austria Airlines denied reporting to the newspaper that it was smoke and spoke in a statement of an “unusual odor event”. The return was merely a precaution. All passengers were also immediately rebooked, the report said.
