ESO researchers discover Planet with two suns

Date:

Astronomers from the European South Sternhewarte (ESO) have discovered a planet that revolves around two suns. The constellation is reminiscent of Tatooine, the fictional home planet of the Luke Skywalker cinema field in the popular Science Fiction Saga “Star Wars”.

The scientists found the unusual system, in which the planet circles around 90 degrees around its two suns, using the very large telescope (VLT) in Chile. It is the first time that one is a clear proof of a “planet in polar lane” that crawls up a ternar is said.

In recent years, various planets have been discovered that circle two stars at the same time, such as the fictional “Star Wars” world of Tatooine. As a rule, these planets would be on oral railways, which roughly match the level at which their central movable circle, according to the researchers.

There have already been indications that planets can exist on vertical or polar organs for double stars: theoretically these jobs are stable and planetary slices on polar orgaps were detected by such a star. So far, however, there has been no clear evidence that these polar planets exist.

Planet crawls two brown dwarfs
The unique exoplanet with the catalog name 2m1510 (AB) B is circling a few young people, so brown dwarfs. These objects are larger than gas giant planets, but too small to be real suns. Seen from the earth, the two brown dwarfs cover each other mutually, which gives them to a so -driven opaque power.

Very rare system
Such a system is incredibly rare: it is only the second known couple of each other hidden brown dwarfs, and it contains the first exoplanet ever found in a train in the right angle of the track, according to the ESO website.
