The winter conditions were fatal for the German driver (48) of a car in Hainzenberg in the Tyrolean Zillertal on Friday. The man lost control of his vehicle and crashed head-on into the car of a Dutch man (44). Four minor injuries were sustained in the crash.
The accident happened shortly before 10 a.m. The 44-year-old drove his car on the snowy B165 from Gerlos towards Zell am Ziller. There were two other Dutch people in the car, aged 32 and 34. At the same time, the 48-year-old, who had his wife and two children on board, drove his car uphill.
Lost control
“In a long bend to the right, the German lost control of his vehicle due to the snowy road, skidded into the oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the Dutchman’s car,” the police said. The 48-year-old and his family were only slightly injured. There was significant damage to both vehicles. The road had to be closed for about an hour.
