A key – that will probably be the wish of four 17-year-old Styrians for the Christ Child. Because they’re spending the Christmas holidays in jail. And that because her ‘glorious plan’ to obtain a mobile phone and a smartwatch through a robbery turned out to be completely half-baked. Only a young accomplice celebrates at home under the Christmas tree.
This plan was not fully thought out! Four 17-year-olds from Steyr, including a Croat and a Serb, decided to rob a 21-year-old because they wanted his iPhone and its smartwatch. One of the boys faked the attack because he knew the victim well and was able to trap him in Losenstein. He lied to the 21-year-old that he wanted to take an overnight car ride with him
Cemetery attack
The friends and one of the other 17-year-olds who were also there did not get far, but stopped in the parking lot of the cemetery in Losenstein, where the accomplices were waiting: masked and armed. The two robbers pulled the victim out of the car, threatened the 21-year-old with a knife and a gun – which later turned out to be a signal weapon – and took the planned loot from him. But then the quartet made a tactical error. The four 17-year-olds fled together in the car, which had no license plate, and left the victim alone at the cemetery that night. So it was clear that they belonged together.
Garsten police officers and the State Criminal Investigation team investigated the boys. It turned out that a 16-year-old was also present there. She was supposed to film the attack, but didn’t. The boys are in custody over Christmas, but the girl remains at large.
