After several stones and rubble crashed into the Hochgallmiggstrasse (L312) on Sunday, the district of the municipality of Fließ in the Tyrolean district of Landeck is currently inaccessible. A threatened landslide also complicates the clean-up work. The supply of the population is guaranteed.
The Hochgallmigg district in the municipality of Fließ is currently not accessible by road. A falling rock and a threatened landslide on the L312 are currently causing a closure. According to the state of Tyrol, the duration of the closure cannot yet be predicted after a local inspection on Sunday morning. The slope is still moving.
The affected area was also flown over with a drone to assess the situation around the demolition site. The supply of the population, who has already been informed by the community, is ensured by an airlift. “During the climbs to be carried out, it became clear that on the valley side of the forest path above, a slope about 25 meters long began to move,” explains state geologist Petra Nittel-Gärtner.
It is therefore necessary to remove the moving material and then secure the slope. Once this work has been completed, the situation will be reassessed. The closure of Hochgallmiggstraße will therefore remain in force until further notice.
Supply assured
About 250 residents are affected by the closure. “Today the volunteer fire brigade was charged with the construction of the helipad. To guarantee supplies, a transport helicopter from the Austrian Armed Forces was also requested in consultation with the State Warning Center to transport people and loads,” explains BM Alexander Jäger. Until the federal army arrives, supplies will be delivered by the state helicopter. This also applies to medical care.
The work continues
In order to restore accessibility by road as quickly as possible, work on the slope continued on Monday morning. A construction company will be on site for this. The duration of the ban cannot currently be predicted.
