On Boxing Day, a cat sparked a major firefighting operation in Lower Austria. Nine apartments were damaged by the resulting flames, three others were seriously damaged.
The cat caused a complete fire in an apartment building in Sollenau in the middle of the night with a fallen wooden lantern. When the emergency services were alerted shortly after 4 a.m., part of the apartment building was already completely on fire.

All residents could be evacuated in time. The damage is estimated at six figures. The lantern was in the garden of an apartment.
No injuries
Four fire brigades with a total of 86 men and 15 vehicles were extinguishing the fire until about 8 a.m. Fortunately, there are no injuries. The cat was also unharmed. An access ban was issued for the building.
