The full slopes during the Christmas holidays increase the risk of collisions. Several accidents occurred in Tyrol on St. Stephen’s Day. After an incident in the ski area in Alpbach, the police are looking for one of those involved or witnesses. A crash also occurred on the slopes in Kaltenbach in the Zillertal.
The collision in the ski jewel Alpbachtal-Wildschönau took place on St. Stephen’s Day around 11 a.m. on the red marked piste No. 53a “HornAbfahrt”. A 70-year-old local skier collided with an unknown second skier.
Rammed from behind
Specifically, the 70-year-old was driving in the vicinity of the valley station of the Hornbahn 2000 when he was rammed from behind. The pensioner suffered significant injuries to his right shoulder. The unknown skier is said to have been unharmed. He stopped for a moment, but continued his journey without revealing his details.

The injured man was rescued by the pister rescue team and then taken to Schwaz hospital by his wife. The Kramsach police (059 133/7213) asks the second person involved or any witnesses to come forward.
Collision also in the Zillertal
An accident also occurred between two skiers in the Hochzillertal ski area around 9:20 am. A 26-year-old American and an Austrian (67) were skiing on slope number 5 and collided for unknown reasons near the valley station of the Mizunbahn. Both were seriously injured and flown in an emergency helicopter to Schwaz and Hall hospitals.
