Tragic accident Monday afternoon in the Tyrolean Oberland: a 74-year-old local woman fell while looking for mushrooms in the forest and remained lying in a stream bed. A passer-by and the emergency services tried to resuscitate the woman. Unfortunately without success.
The 74-year-old pensioner went hunting for mushrooms in a wooded area in Oberhofen (Innsbruck-Land district) on Monday afternoon. “For unknown reasons, the woman fell about 15 meters on steep terrain and remained lying on her back in a stream bed,” police said.
Another hiker raised the alarm
Another hiker, who happened to be in the same forest, discovered the fallen elderly person and started the rescue chain shortly before 4 p.m. She immediately provided first aid and started resuscitation measures until the emergency services arrived.
All help came too late for the pensioner
The crew of the medical emergency helicopter “Martin2” eventually continued the resuscitation, but unfortunately this was not successful. The 74-year-old died on the spot from her serious injuries.
