Late Wednesday afternoon, the fire brigade was called to a fire in the Simmering district of Vienna. One person was injured and rescued from the apartment by emergency services.
The room fire spread to the roof structure, numerous emergency services were on site with three turntable ladders and respiratory protection teams. “We are trying to prevent the fire from spreading further,” said a fire brigade spokesperson. At the beginning of the evening, the extinguishing work had not yet been completed.
Fire under control
However, the fire was so far under control that expansion was no longer possible, it was said. Alert level 2 has been lifted again.
Why the fire broke out on the fifth floor of the community building in Simmering is still being investigated. All potentially threatened residents were able to be brought outside to safety – some independently, some with the help of the emergency services.
