First the son (24) rode over the edge of the piste, then his father (49) followed him: In the Katschberg ski area in Salzburg, two men were injured when they flew off the piste in a high arc and crashed into a tree.
It was shortly after 3pm on Wednesday in the Katschberg ski area in St. Michael when two skiers from Lower Bavaria were skiing on the Sonnalm piste. At the intersection with the Bärenwiesen piste, the 24-year-old came off the piste, flew uncontrollably down an embankment and collided with a tree.
His father (49) lost control at the same point, ran over the edge of the slope and was thrown into a tree.
Skiers behind the two men administered first aid and called emergency services. An emergency doctor’s helicopter flew one injured person to the hospital in Schwarzach and the other to Villach.
