The pre-Christmas period was not very contemplative for a 71-year-old Upper Austrian from the district of Gmunden. Yesterday, December 23, she dared to go to the Salzburg police and filed a complaint against an unknown online love scammer.
It was probably a sad awakening for the woman – at the beginning of the summer she was said to have been approached by a famous classical musician via a social media platform.
The alleged musician, who plays a string instrument, pretended to be in love with the woman online, persuading her to repeatedly transfer money to him. The 71-year-old fulfilled his requirements.
The total damage amounted to about 56,000 euros.
