During an emergency drive to Villach, a Carinthian ambulance brother (30) wanted to overtake a car in Feld am See on Wednesday, but it suddenly started to turn. Four people, including a child, were injured in the collision.
The 30-year-old paramedic sent the ambulance with blue lights on Millstätter Strasse to Villach on Wednesday afternoon. In the area of Erlach, municipality of Feld am See, the driver started overtaking because the car in front of her had stopped. But suddenly it turned left. Even an immediate emergency braking by the paramedic could not prevent a collision.
The ambulance came sideways into the car and then ended up in a bus shelter. Both the driver of the emergency vehicle and a driver (50) were injured in the accident. The motorist (28) from the Villach district and her five-year-old daughter were injured to an unknown extent. All four were admitted to the LKH Villach.
“There was significant material damage to the vehicles and the bus shelter,” said a police officer. The volunteer fire brigade Feld am See also took action.
