Farmer seriously injured – crashed tractor driver discovered after hours

Terrible accident on Thursday in Gnadenwald in the Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land: An 82-year-old tractor driver fell 20 meters into a forest together with the vehicle. After the man had still not returned to the farm after several hours, an acquaintance raised the alarm. The seriously injured man, who was trapped in the driver’s cabin, was only found in the evening hours by his brother-in-law.

Around 3 p.m., the 82-year-old had left the farm in Gnadenwald with his tractor. “After the man, unusually, had still not returned from milking at 7:30 p.m., an acquaintance who worked on the same farm reported his absence to the police,” the detectives said.

Because an accident was feared, a search was immediately launched. In addition, the tractor was found shortly after 8.30 pm by the missing man’s brother-in-law about 20 meters under a path in a wooded area. The 82-year-old had crashed and was seriously injured in the driver’s cab.

Taken to hospital by rescue
“NAfter medical first aid and rescue, the farmer was taken to Innsbruck University Hospital with the rescue service,” the police continued. The fire department was on duty Gnadenwald, Terfens and Wattens, rescue and emergency doctor, mountain rescue, the professional fire brigade of Innsbruck including drone and the police including guide dogs.
