An 84-year-old was resuscitated after a serious accident and then flown to a hospital.
A serious traffic accident took place on a protection path in Heiligeneich, part of the market town of Atzenbrugg (Tulln district) on Friday morning.
An 84-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car at a zebra crossing and seriously injured. Police said the 39-year-old driver was apparently blinded by the low sun, causing her to miss the elderly woman.
Thrown against the windshield
The collision took place shortly before 9:30 am when the car hit the pensioner head-on. The force of the impact caused the woman to fall onto the hood and windshield before coming to a stop in the street. The rescue measures taken immediately led to the resuscitation of the seriously injured, who were then flown by rescue helicopter to the University Hospital St. Pölten.
