A video showing how a black car suddenly ended up between the barriers at a level crossing in Kitzbühel in Tyrol and an approaching train was already in sight caused a stir. This isn’t the first time such a shocking moment has occurred – as another video from the same railway crossing shows. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the drivers were negligent.
As reported, the driver of a black Mercedes who had to stop on the tracks at Hahnenkamm train station in Kitzbühel a few days ago because a car stopped in front of him had a breakdown. Just then the mechanical rail barrier went down due to an approaching train. After a moment of indecision, the driver pressed the accelerator and drove through the obstacle. The predetermined breaking point that rail barriers usually prevented the car from being seriously damaged.
Often life-threatening situations
Apparently several residents and holidaymakers already experienced anxious seconds at this level crossing. Eyewitnesses regularly film the life-threatening scenes (see video above). “Skiers always get on or off immediately after the level crossing and therefore cause traffic jams,” describes a Kitzbüheler to the “Krone”.
Many forget important rules
However, some drivers no longer remember what they hopefully learned at driving school. You may never enter the track area if you cannot leave it quickly and without stopping.
