From January 5 to 7, 2024, countless volunteer bird watchers and hobby ornithologists will be out and about again throughout the country: then the “hour of winter birds” will strike again.
Austria’s largest bird count, organized by BirdLife, is taking place for the 15th time. You can also participate in identifying your feathered friends in the city: During the bird counting weekend, the House for Nature in St. Pölten also offers a special program.
Bird watching in the museum
The winter birds will be observed and counted in the museum garden on Friday and Sunday at 10 a.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. This will then be rewarded with a guided tour of the current special exhibition ‘Down with the language! How animals and plants communicate” – as a thank you for your help with the counting, this is free.
