A good Bello as a fire alarm prevented a tragedy in Grünburg. The four-legged friend was attacked when a fire broke out in the attic of a farmhouse on New Year’s Day. The farmer’s son and his father were able to rescue five friends who had spent the night upstairs. The farmer saved two people with the front loader.
On January 1 at around 6:40 am, a fire broke out in the attic of a building in Leonstein (municipality of Grünburg). Six people between the ages of 17 and 23 slept in it after a New Year’s Eve party. A 22-year-old who was sleeping on the ground floor was woken at 6.40am by the dog barking and was the first to notice the heavy smoke already spreading.
Three friends saved
Despite the heavy smoke, he fought his way to the top floor and rescued three of his friends. The two remaining people were immediately brought to safety through the upstairs window by the father and owner of the building using a front loader.
Five injured
Five people have been rescued from the hospital in Steyr with suspected smoke poisoning. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. 20 fire engines with 100 men were deployed. The firefighting efforts continued throughout the morning. An investigation into the cause of the fire will follow.
