Although it was relatively quiet in Burgenland, there were still some firefighting operations.
The most challenging fire broke out in Lebenbrunn, a district of Pilgersdorf in the Oberpullendorf district. There, a farm building where agricultural vehicles were parked was on fire.
Shortly before 9 p.m. the alarm was raised and the fire brigades were called from Lebenbrunn, Steinbach, Pilgersdorf, Redlschlag and Kogl. “When the emergency services arrived, the building was already completely engulfed in flames,” said Michael Mandl of the district fire command.
The situation was precarious: heavy smoke forced people to wear respiratory protection and falling parts made it difficult to get inside. Thanks to the help of a drone that mapped the situation, firefighting work could be coordinated efficiently. The virus was prevented from spreading to neighboring buildings and all emergency services were unharmed. Why the fire broke out is still under investigation.
More small fires
In Neusiedl am See the fire brigade was called to a relatively small fire.
A fireworks battery had caught fire. This was quickly removed. A hedge fire was also reported in Rechnitz, there was a field fire in Bocksdorf and a garbage bin caught fire in Neudörfl.
