Just a few days before Christmas Eve, employees of the child welfare office, flanked by police officers, came to the apartment of famous lawyer Liane Hirschbrich and took away her triplets, who were born on October 8. The reason for this decision: because of her demanding job – and because she is a single parent – the mother would not have enough time and energy to adequately care for the babies.
Caroline, Sarah and Christian were then placed with crisis foster parents, but have since been taken away again and taken to Vienna General Hospital.
According to Hirschbrich, the triplets, who were born two months prematurely, are ‘dream children’: ‘And I had ensured that they received optimal care long before they were born.’
She considers the authorities’ measures “against my children and me” as an “incredible, inhuman scandal.”
Footage of the incident sheds light on the emotional challenges parents can face when government officials doubt their ability to provide care. Liane Hirschbrich naturally fights for the quick return of her beloved triplets to her.
