At New Year’s Eve party, Meloni-Mandatar probably accidentally shot a man

Date:

Italian MP from Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s party, Emanuele Pozzolo, is said to have accidentally shot a 31-year-old at a New Year’s Eve party. The man suffered injuries to his leg and was treated in hospital. The police are now investigating.

Pozzolo was showing some partygoers his gun, for which he has a firearms permit, when the shot was fired, apparently accidentally. “I brought them to show them,” said the lawmaker from the ruling right-wing Fratelli d’Italia (Brothers of Italy) party.

There is also speculation in the media that Pozzolo took his gun out of his pocket to celebrate the New Year by shooting into the air. The incident in Rosazza, northern Italy, left a 31-year-old injured in the leg. He is the son-in-law of a man on the staff of Justice Minister Andrea Delmastro.

More injured on New Year’s Eve
Pozzolo could face charges of violation of supervision. A total of 274 people were injured in Italy on New Year’s Eve, twelve of whom were injured by firearms and 262 by fireworks. This is an increase compared to the previous year with 180 injuries. A 45-year-old woman was killed by a gunshot in Naples while celebrating New Year’s Eve with her relatives.
