Cars broken into – youth gang arrested: youngest member only 11!

Date:

A group of young people did more than just mischief in the Viennese district of Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus on Friday evening: the young gang – the youngest boy was barely eleven years old – broke into two cars. Shortly afterwards they were arrested by the police.

Initially, the young people – a fourteen-year-old Austrian, an eleven-year-old Austrian, two Serbs aged twelve and fourteen years old and a fourteen-year-old whose citizenship is still unclear – were out and about in Loeschenkohlgasse. There they were observed by a witness as they broke into a car and then fled.

Shortly afterwards they broke into a car in Preysinggasse, and a witness also alerted the police.

Teenagers caught after a brief escape
The officers discovered the group a little later in Schweglerstrasse. The youths tried to escape but were quickly stopped. After a brief denial, all suspects confessed.

The 14-year-old Serb had a suspected stolen debit card with him, his twelve-year-old compatriot and the 14-year-old had e-cigarettes and cigarettes with them.

Knife seized at crime scene
A knife was found at one of the crime scenes, which the teenagers may have used to break into the cars.

During the course of the investigation it also emerged that two of the young people had been reported missing. The group was reported on suspicion of various property crimes. The 14-year-old and the 12-year-old were also reported under the Vienna Youth Protection Act.

All were released to their guardians.
