Common perpetrators leave a trail of destruction and anger in Kukmirn (Burgenland). However, the act of vandalism could also be a protest: against the construction of the community center.
Naughty hooligans have been causing mischief in the town of 2,000 inhabitants in the Güssing district for some time now. Time and again, strangers enjoy themselves at traffic signs and information boards.
Shield round cut with flex
Just before Christmas Eve, a common perpetrator on the street had probably unnoticed using a battery flex tool to cut around the metal pole on which a sign for the current alternative accommodation area of the town hall in the multipurpose room is mounted. The ruthless hooligans struck again on Friday evening.
Board stuck
Not far from the last crime scene, they pasted a sign with an indecent word in English on the city sign. There is great anger in the office.
Act as a protest?
“These deliberate actions are not a joke, but an absolute shame,” said Mayor Werner Kemetter. He suspects that behind the acts of vandalism lies a malicious protest against the construction of the new community center. The entire village hopes that the perpetrators will be discovered quickly.
