He is considered one of the central masterminds of Hamas’ terrorist attack on Israel on October 7 and has survived several assassination attempts. For a long time, the head of the terrorist organization’s armed wing, Mohammed Deif, was considered a ghost. But now the Israeli military has published a current photo of the 58-year-old.
The photo distributed on Saturday evening shows a gray-haired, bearded man with several banknotes in his left hand and a plastic cup with liquid in his right.
“This is important for the leaders of Hamas”
An Israeli army spokesman responded to the recording: “Look what the leaders of Hamas care about: the money, the dollars! They are in heaven while the people of Gaza are in hell.”
The recording was secured on a computer belonging to the terrorist organization. Israeli authorities long believed that Deif had lost several limbs. In December, Israeli media reported that the military had found a video showing Deif with both arms and both legs.
The military has already collected 70 million Hamas records
Army spokesman Daniel Hagari said on Saturday evening that the army had already discovered a total of 70 million files containing intelligence-relevant information. “Together with (the domestic intelligence service) Shin Bet, we interrogated terrorist agents,” Hagari said. “As a result, we obtained information on senior Hamas leaders, including documentation from Mohammed Deif and also information on Hamas leaders outside the Gaza Strip.”
