Euskadi tops the rankings for the highest average pension in the state and Navarra is in fourth place

Between 2013 and 2023, the average pension in Euskadi increased by 421 euros and in Navarra by 395 euros. Alava is the historical area with the highest average pension (1,514), followed by Bizkaia (1,504), Gipuzkoa (1,471) and Navarra (1,385 euros).

To calculate the average pensions paid in the autonomous communities, the pensions are for retirement, widowhood, orphanhood, family favor and disability.

If we take an average of all these types of pensions, Euskadi tops the state rankings average 1485 euros (24% higher than the state average). Navarre is the fourth autonomous community in this ranking, with an average pension of 1376 euros (15% above the state measure).

However, there are differences per municipality in the amounts that Basque pensioners receive. At the top we find the cities with the highest amounts Orexa, Adiós, Areso, Getxo, Arantzazu, Artea or Plentzia.

On the contrary Zugarramurdi, Samaniego, Eskoriatza or Aulesti They are some of the municipalities with the lowest average pensions in Hego Euskal Herria.

The sections

If we look at the sections, the Basque Autonomous Community doubles the state average for retirees in the upper portion, i.e. those who receive a pension of 3,058 euros or more. In Euskadi, 10 out of 100 notice itand in the state only 5 in a hundred.

The Basque Country and Navarre also have the highest percentage of retirees receiving the pension in the intermediate bracket (between 1,080 and 3,057 euros), and the Basque Country has the lowest percentage of pensioners in the low bracket (less than 1,080 euros).

However, the average pension that Euskadi pays out has grown more in recent years (39%) than the average salary (27%).
