An abandoned “ghost car” caused a lot of guesswork at a roundabout near the Inntal highway on Monday. The driver could then be identified via a detour. He had probably looked too deeply into the glass beforehand, as the breath test showed.
The heavily damaged car was found in the middle of the Hall-Mitte roundabout in the municipality of Ampass around 12:30 p.m. The driver of the vehicle could not be located at the scene or in the area. A towing company was called in to remove the car from the accident scene.
I managed to get in touch with my girlfriend
An employee of this company was able to contact the reporter (the driver’s friend) via a breakdown assistance service. She then told police that she had picked up the accident driver, a 42-year-old Belarusian, in the community of Hall after the accident.
An alcohol test showed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. His driver’s license was confiscated. Significant damage occurred to the traffic facility (roundabout) and the vehicle.
