Apparently because the barrier opened too early, an accident occurred between an ÖBB bus and a train in Pongau on Monday. No one was injured.
The barrier for a railway crossing in Pongau moved incorrectly on Monday afternoon. When a bus driver thought he could drive over it, a train passed by in the direction of Bischofshofen. The driver had stopped earlier because the barrier was closed. While driving on the reopened track, he saw a train coming from the right, immediately put the car in reverse and drove back a bit. But it was already too late to avoid it.
Despite emergency braking, the driver was unable to avoid a collision. Both vehicles were severely damaged. Human error may have been responsible for the premature opening of the barrier system.
