A serious traffic accident occurred in Vienna-Alsergrund on Monday afternoon. A 17-year-old was driving without a license and lost control, injuring a pedestrian. Instead of waiting for the police, he fled with his 13-year-old passenger.
The 13-year-old passenger had previously created a fake account with a car-sharing company using a stolen ID from a family member. This allowed the two of them to gain access to one of the company’s cars. While driving, the teen lost control and crashed into a parked car.
Pedestrian injured
The parked car soon ended up on the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian. Attentive witnesses immediately alerted the police.
Attempt to escape failed
Moments later, however, the 17-year-old fled the car with his 13-year-old passenger, leaving the injured passerby behind. However, police managed to apprehend the two near the scene of the accident a short time later.
Multiple abrasions
The passerby received emergency medical care from the Vienna Professional Rescue Service and was taken to a hospital. He suffered several abrasions and serious facial injuries. The 17-year-old driver also had to be treated in hospital. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
