A suspected shoplifter used a public bus as an “getaway vehicle” in the Tyrolean Stubai Valley on Wednesday afternoon. After the Lithuanian (27) stole two jackets from a store in Neustift, the suspect was arrested by the police during an “intensive check”.
Shortly before 3 p.m., a salesperson from a sports shop in Neustift in the Stubai Valley raised the alarm with the police. He stated that an unknown perpetrator had just stolen two coats and fled.
Traffic from the valley is “intensively” monitored.
The thieves apparently wanted to flee the valley as quickly as possible. The police also suspected this and subsequently subjected the traffic leaving the valley to an “intensive check”. And indeed: the officers were able to ‘fish’ the suspected perpetrator out of a bus.
The suspect, a 27-year-old Lithuanian, was temporarily arrested and interrogated at the police station in Neustift. “He confessed,” investigators say. The 27-year-old is reported. The two jackets were confiscated and subsequently returned to the sports store.
