At least four people have now died in storms in the US. Snow storms rage in the west, tornadoes in the south and there is a risk of flooding due to heavy rainfall in the east. The storms are expected to reach the east coast state of New England on Wednesday.
The American weather service has predicted this. The West Coast snowstorms will likely move further inland, bringing very cold temperatures. These already prevail in large parts of the country. Flood warnings were also in effect in the eastern United States. According to US media reports, at least four people have died due to the weather.

Hundreds of thousands of households without electricity
Nearly 500,000 homes and businesses were without power on the East Coast on Tuesday evening. About 166,000 consumers were affected in New York state alone, and another 130,000 people in the US state of Pennsylvania in the south.
In New York, nearly 2,000 migrants, including families with children, were moved from a tent camp to a safe shelter ahead of expected heavy rain and wind.
The storms will continue at least until Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
