In an interview with Radio Canela, Noboa stated that the violent actions of recent days are the response of criminal groups to the actions his government is taking to stop the escalation of insecurity, causing Ecuador to position itself as one of the most violent to land. in the world. Likewise, it has a warning to judges and prosecutors that dictate resolutions favorable to the leaders or members of criminal gangs: “They will also be considered and treated as terrorists.”

The armed attack broadcast on the channel TC Television, the burning of vehicles, the kidnapping of police officers and the riots with hostages in several prisons in the country led Noboa to make a controversial and unprecedented decision to ban organized crime groups such as ‘ belligerent actors’. against the stability of the state”.

After declaring “internal armed conflict”, Ecuadorian police made arrests “329 terrorists”. Meanwhile, a total of 139 prison officials, including guards and administrative staff, continue to be held in at least five prisons where prisoners have rioted as a measure of protest against the heavy-handed policies Noboa wants to implement in Ecuador’s prison system.

This wave of violence comes in light of the Noboa government’s apparent imminent intention to isolate the leaders of criminal gangs before taking them to two high-security prisons, the construction of which it plans to present this Thursday, with a design similar to that of Mexico. and The Redeemer.
