Animal use for the Groß Sankt Florian fire brigade in Styria: a cat got stuck in a drain pipe, but the “house cat” was eventually safely returned to its owners.
“Animal rescue in Vochera” – this alarm was received by the Groß St. Florian fire brigade shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday. A cat was probably too curious during one of his excursions and ended up down a drainpipe. The Florianis first tried to chase the animal out of the pipe, but the ‘house tiger’ got stuck.
The pipe was then exposed with a mini excavator, the exact location of the cat was determined with a camera and the pipe was cut open in the right place and with great care.
“After an hour and a half, we freed the animal and were able to return it unharmed to its grateful owners,” said firefighter Katrin Knaß-Roßmann.
