Carinthia is taking countermeasures: winter sports weeks burden parents and schools

Date:

Inflation is putting increasing pressure on parents and schools for ski courses and other school-related events. Fewer and fewer families can afford winter sports weeks for their children. In Carinthia, tourism experts and cable car operators are working with the state to promote this together.

Even though the sport is becoming increasingly expensive, skiing is once again experiencing a boom. Sales of ski passes have even increased by 20 percent in Carinthia compared to 2022/2023. The slopes have been stormed, especially since January.

Students should also take advantage of the beautiful descents in the local ski areas, but the popularity of winter sports weeks is declining. The gist is that the current price situation is primarily responsible for this. Travel costs, accommodation, ski pass: a school ski week currently costs an average of around 450 euros.
