Hatred of Jews escalates: aggressive crowd chases footballers with knives

Date:

Things are currently heating up among our German neighbors: an aggressive, anti-Semitic gang in Berlin is said to have prosecuted youth players of a Jewish football club with knives and sticks.

“Who will finally stop this hatred of Jews?” asks the “Bild-Zeitung” nowadays. The stumbling block was an away match at Schwarz-Weiß Neukölln, in which B youth players from the Jewish football club TuS Makkabi were attacked.

During the match it was anything but prudish. The opponent insulted and spat at the football players, writes ‘Bild’. As if that wasn’t enough, a crowd of young spectators also persecuted the players with sticks and even knives, describes the military rabbi in Berlin Shlomo Afanasev on “X”. He wants to have learned this from his 13-year-old son and football player at Makkabi. “The referee did not intervene. Worse still, he didn’t even ‘pay attention’ to it.”

Players had to flee
After the final whistle, the situation became truly frightening: “Children and adults were followed and loudly insulted.” In the player chat, a team member was shocked by the situation. After the match, the opponents shouted “Free Palestine”. On the way out they were then insulted by “Arab boys” and two girls as “shitty Jews”. They then allegedly chased about ten “Arab boys” armed with sticks and knives. The football players would have to flee to the cars of their parents and guardians.

The police don’t know anything
The police were apparently not involved in the incident, a spokeswoman confirmed when asked. It is also unclear whether a report has now been filed. “We have nothing on this at this time,” it says simply.

The president of Makkabi Germany confirmed the scenes in a video conference. “We support the local association Makkabi Berlin so that the case can be resolved,” said Meyer. Schwarz-Weiß Neukölln director Alexander Hilprecht told ‘Bild’ when asked: ‘Our trainer didn’t tell me anything about anti-Semitic insults and spitting attacks. During the match it was of course sporty, but also competitive within the limits. The match ended 4:7 for Makkabi.” If he had noticed the insults, the referee would certainly have written a special report on the match. However, Hilprecht explained that he did not have one.

“Berlin should not become Amsterdam”
Raed Saleh, leader of the SPD in Berlin, calls for clarification: “The reports of anti-Semitic insults and threats against players and fans of Makkabi Berlin are very disturbing. Anti-Semitism, hatred, agitation and violence should have no place in Berlin sport!”

“Berlin must not become Amsterdam and we will ensure that. We do not accept hatred of Jews in our city, in our country,” said CDU faction leader Dirk Stettner.
