Ukraine said it was again the target of heavy air strikes by Russia on Saturday morning. The responsible authorities reported that rockets were fired in at least five regions.
Several buildings, including residential buildings, were damaged by falling debris. There were initially no reports of casualties. Police in the Chernihiv region of northern Ukraine have released a photo of a large crater reportedly torn into the ground by a fired rocket.
Russia used Kinschal missiles
The Ukrainian Air Force says Russia also used Kinzhal hypersonic missiles in the attack. It remains unclear whether these projectiles, which are extremely difficult to intercept, hit targets. Overall, there was significantly less information from Ukrainian authorities than usual on Saturday.
The eight-meter-long Kinschal rockets, whose name translates to “dagger” in German, are extremely fast, fly very high and are still maneuverable. They are often used by the Russian military to destroy fuel and weapons depots.
