24 of the 31 sewage treatment plants in Lower Austria are currently reported to have the highest level of corona danger, and the second highest at the other seven locations. The situation is worse in only three other federal states.
It has only been a few months since the corona infection process across the country was no longer determined by the sum of different test systems, but – as in other countries – by wastewater analyses. Samples from 31 sewage treatment plants in the country, some at key school sites, are being examined.
Just one look at Friday’s most recent analysis shows why experts are currently concerned. The highest level of danger is shown in 24 of the 31 locations, and the second highest level in the seven remaining locations. Relatively speaking, the situation is only worse in Vienna, Tyrol and Carinthia.
Also based on this data, experts assume that the actual infection rate in the country is currently much higher than the official figures (2,311 cases on Saturday) show. “From August, the huge increase will also be reflected in the official number of cases,” it says.
