Three men were trying to clean up storm damage in the forest in Strobl on Saturday morning when a tree stump came loose and trapped the foot of a 49-year-old. The young man was freed and taken by helicopter to the accident hospital.
A 49-year-old was in the forest near Strobl with his son (21) and nephew (20) on Saturday morning to clean up storm damage. When they were on a steep slope, a tree stump that had already been uprooted came loose and slipped, trapping the 49-year-old father’s foot.
His son and nephew came to his aid and freed the trapped leg with a winch. In the meantime, the son alerted the emergency services. They had problems reaching the location and therefore sent an emergency helicopter, which was able to rescue the man and take him to the accident hospital in Salzburg. According to the police, foul play can be ruled out.
