Serious accident Monday morning on the A2, the southern motorway, in Gleisdorf in Styria. A driver (75) drove her car first into the left guardrail and then into the right guardrail. She was trapped and succumbed to her serious injuries in hospital a short time later.
Around 9 a.m., a 75-year-old Slovenian woman drove her car on the “South” in the first lane towards Villach. According to a witness, she suddenly steered her vehicle into the right guardrail for no apparent reason.
Thrown across the lanes
From there, the small car was thrown across the emergency lane and into the first and second lanes into the left guardrail. The 75-year-old was trapped in the car. Emergency services from the fire brigades of Gleisdorf and Hofstätten an der Raab freed the woman from the car.
Partial closure until the evening hours
After initial treatment, she was flown to LKH Graz by the Christophorus 12 emergency medical helicopter with life-threatening head injuries. The 75-year-old died there on Monday afternoon from her serious injuries.
The accident site was completely closed until shortly after 10 a.m. According to the Ilz Motorway Maintenance Department, the second lane will have to remain closed until the evening hours due to repair work.
